An Anchor in My Life

Making a planned gift to the Delta Gamma Foundation was never a question, just a matter of time.

When our first child was born, my husband, Benny, and I had a will made and included Delta Gamma. Funny thing is, there was no Charter Group at that time-just my deep love for Delta Gamma and a desire to make sure I was giving back to the organization that had forever changed my life. Several years later, the Charter Group was formed, and I was automatically a member and have chosen to enhance my gift several times.

Delta Gamma has been an anchor in my life since I pledged at the age of 17. I have gained so much in the areas of leadership, sisterhood and service to others. Literally, Delta Gamma became a home away from home. It has become a family affair, as I have seen both of my daughters, a niece and my mother all initiated. My husband proudly boasts his Anchorman status!

Delta Gamma has been my passion in life, and I've served on the local, Province, Cabinet and Council levels. I have now returned to where it all began, as the Advisory Team chairman for Gamma Xi chapter at Texas Tech University. Through all this service, I continue to receive much more than I give.

The Delta Gamma Foundation provides so much to so many people. My personal "hot buttons" are leadership development and the Collegiate Development Consultant Program. While on Council, I supervised both of these areas and have seen women of all ages benefit from their association with these programs. The Delta Gamma Foundation provides funding for these programs, and I am proud to see my contributions used to enhance them.

This love affair I have with Delta Gamma will only continue to be cultivated and grow throughout the years. I encourage all alumnae to remember the oaths you once took during initiation and to give back—of your time, your talents and your treasures. Join me as we create a stronger foundation for the future women of Delta Gamma.
