Terry Mack Magnin, Delta Epsilon-University of the Pacific, spends her time between the three things she is most passionate about: her daughters and grandchildren, sisters in Delta Gamma and education. One of her grandsons always asks, "Grammy, why do you always have to teach me something?" And Terry always tells him, "That's just my nature—I am a teacher."

Terry's passion for education grew out of her experiences as a first-year student at University of the Pacific. Terry wanted to be a member of the Delta Epsilon chapter of Delta Gamma more than anything—something about the women of Delta Gamma just seemed like a good fit to her. And so, when she was invited to join the house, she was elated. "When I got my letter and learned what house I was going to be in, the other girls and I ran as fast as we could straight to the house."

During her four years in college, Terry made friends for life, grew a great appreciation for education and decided to become an elementary school teacher.

Over her career, Terry has seen first-hand the impact that education can have on the life of a student with potential. Much of her time as a teacher was spent with economically disadvantaged students, but Terry always encouraged them to do everything possible to find financial assistance and scholarships to help them pay for a higher education.

As an active member of the PEO Sisterhood and Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional organization for women educators, Terry has been a champion of education in both her professional and personal life. Now retired, Terry is continuing her commitment to education by making a bequest to the Delta Gamma Foundation to endow an undergraduate merit-based scholarship.

Terry is grateful for both her education and experiences in Delta Gamma. "I am so fortunate that my parents were able to pay for my education, but that's not what everyone has." By endowing a scholarship, Terry is making sure that higher education is possible for women who may not have the advantages she's had. By combining her love for Delta Gamma and her passion for education, Terry's legacy will live on by supporting DGs as they pursue their own passions.
