In August of 1969, Linda Shreve arrived at the University of Idaho campus and participated in sorority rush. During that week she met the women who, almost 50 years later, continue to be among her closest friends. “The bonds were strengthened years later when I was able to participate in the initiation of our daughters, Laurel and Holly,” Linda proudly shares.

Delta Gamma provided not only lifelong friends, but opportunities to hone leadership skills and living with 60 other women resulted in a greater appreciation for diversity of thought and exposure to new cultural and social interests.

The Delta Gamma creed of “Do Good” was first instilled in Linda by her parents, reinforced by her Delta Gamma experience and solidified by her 40-year career in academic fundraising where she worked with individuals and families to make philanthropic investments to their alma maters. According to Linda, “Philanthropic individuals, who are seeking to do good, are happy and caring people.”

“In my six years on the Delta Gamma Foundation Board of Trustees, I have learned how important the strong national organization is to the life of our chapters,” Linda says. “It is important to support both our chapters of initiation and our national Fraternity. That is why Mike (my Anchor Man of 46 years) and I have chosen to establish a leadership endowment for Delta Gamma through a bequest.”

Creating an endowment that supports leadership programming will enable Delta Gamma to elevate successful programs and allow for new, innovative leadership programs to be created in the future.

“We will continue to make annual gifts but can make a much larger investment through estate planning,” Linda says. “I invite my sisters to experience the joy and satisfaction of making a planned gift to Delta Gamma.”
